Level 10 and VIP Achievements Released *Update!*
This is probably one of the most drastic changes Howrse is making, besides the new layouts in the summer of 2009. Some of the smaller changes include a new tutorial, even more springtime coats, and UFOs opening as a pop-up window (be sure to turn off your pop-up blocker! ;) ). One change that I disagree with is removing the Achievement Levels. Many of the older players may remember waiting and waiting for Level 10 and VIP to come

Croesus - A New Divine
out. It was finally released on May 27th, as well as the other changes, but will be taken away in two months or less. This is because it will make Howrse more easier to use. I see how it can be confusing for a new player, but if there is a new detailed tutorial coming out, shouldn’t they be able to keep it?
This provides a constant goal that should be met as the player advances on the game. Without it, there is nothing to really keep you on track.
With the removal of the achievement page, players who passed level seven will have an icon on their page. There is no actual deletion date for the
pages; once 100 players pass the VIP level, all the achievements will be deleted. If 100 players don’t pass in two months, they will be deleted. The achievements will be deleted at the end of June! The only goal for the VIP level is to own a Croesus. This is a new divine horse that produces equus instead of dung. Also, every 13th day of the month, the owner will receive a pass. If the 13th is a Friday, the owner will receive two passes. This horse will

New Navigation Menu
switch to a different user each month. All you need to do is name your horse “Junior Croesus”.
For those of you who have been on Babydow, you will notice that the navigation is a drop-down list. Howrse is changing to this technique instead. Personally, I like the previous one better; this will take some time to get used to it.
More little changes will be added like having the total competition earnings on your horse’s page, local time added next to GMT, and the foal games being added to the Equestrian Center tab on the horse’s page.

I have only just recently joined Howrse, in fact my upping of achievement levels is currently held up every time because I need to wait until whichever day in order to take the next level exam. I like the achievement levels. I agree that it gives you something to work toward, ironically especially for the newbies.
As far as the dropdown menus are concerned, personally I prefer them. Solely because it has sped up the site for me immensely. I’m not sure what the difference in coding is, I just know that it makes a real speed difference for me, for which I’m appreciative.
I do like the sound of the new Divine. I’m still hazy how the Divine horse thing works. Is it really as simple as naming a horse Junior Croesus? I’m presuming not everyone gets it as soon as they name a horse as required. I’ve only just reached level 7 and seriously doubt I have a chance in heck of getting a Divine, at least not before the two month achievement levels deadline has passed!
Thanks for working on this site. I love being able to check what achievements are coming up that I cannot see/read yet.
No problem. ;) I love being able to hear your opinion.
Since you said you were a newer player, I see how it would probably help you. I usually spend approximetly 2 or 3 hours a day on Howrse, if I have time. I got a routine down for navigating the site. Hopefully I can go back to my normal speed.
For the divine, I’m guessing you’ll only get it once and it could take well over a year to get it. There are about 4 million players on Howrse and only about 3,000 to 5,000 are active at a time. Of those players, maybe five of them own a Croesus. If 4 million players try to get one and it’s only twelve times a year, that’s only 1,200 different players a year.
Is it actually that all 100 Croesoi (proper greek pluralization) generate a new Croesus every month? Or does only ONE a month come out?
I suspect I have a donkeys chance of getting to Level 10 and being one of the first to get one LOL
Only 100 will be on the game. They just switch owners.
Hi um you know the VERY new players like me (5th day of connection) do we stand any chance of getting a Croesus? I have called one of my howrses Junior Croesus, can anyone help me out please?
There’s already 100 on the game, so they will be switching breeders at then end of June I’m guessing. As far as getting one, you have a chance, but it’s very very small. I would just concentrate on getting as many achievements done as possible. That was the main way I got BM items. I hope something replaces that so it’s not as hard for new players to start.
i understood that they would change a normal horse, not switch to another owner. Which is right? below is what Ow posted in the events forum.
So who is Croesus?
Croesus is a divine horse that instead of producing manure, produces equus.
He gives a pass every 13th of each month to his owner, if his owner connects that day.
If the 13th of the months falls on a Friday and his owner is connected he gives 2 passes.
You haven’t finished level 10 of the Achievements but you dream of a Croesus?
Each month one of the 100 Croesus randomly transforms another normal horse into a new Croesus.
Warning to be eligible to be transformed into a Croesus the horse must be called (and typed exactly like follows) :
Junior Croesus
Please notice that it’s not necessary to call all your horses Junior Croesus only one does the trick
The horse will stay with it’s owner and only one of the Croesus will change a Junior Croesus into a divine. Sorry if I posted the wrong thing.
I just started at the beginning of June!!!!!!!!!!
IT’S LITERALLY IMPOSSIBLE FOR ME TO GET IT BECAUSE OF THE DAYS OF SENIORITY AND STUFF. ITS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ANNOYING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Desperately trying to complete level 7 in time. Annoyed about this whole thing though; I thought I would dawdle my way up, but apparently not. I need to another 15,000e to pass l7 before end of June. I have 5 fields and am buying poo to make into manure and selling it again. I’m getting there very slowly and I worried I won’t make it. Do you think I will make it?
Definitely, if you have 15 acre meadows. As soon as spring begins, grow flax. Harvest it as soon as you can and grow more. Sell both the bedding and flax seed and you should be good.
i just like you all to know! that i have a foal up for sale new born bay Ran&Won is the name look out only 500! please bid .
Hi so if you name a horse Junior Croesus, does it have to be an adult horse?
And also, does the person who has the Croesus get to choose who to give it too?
And also, (Sorry so many questions) how large of a chance do you have to get a Croesus?
Thanks so much,
looloo98 (That’s my HOWRSE name)
No, it does not have to be an adult horse.
No, they do not get to choose – it’s completely random.
I figured these numbers about before, so I don’t know if it will change, but I’m guessing it’s a one out of 3,333 that you can get one.
wow, hope i get one :P
Thanks!

If you are on howrse, search Blueicee421 and look at my horses and just tell me what you think.I don’t care if its mean, nice, anything,no matter what it will help. Also,I’m not aiming to get a divine, because I would feel more proud if I had a winning horse I bred myself.Don’t you think so?
So lemme get this right… you have to name a horse Junior Croesus in order to have a chance of it being transformed into one? Because that’s the only way I’ll get one, or just randomly. I can’t get past level seven :( Can someone help me with my egg and add me as a friend, btw? my username is jerryj. ty ~
Does every coresus change 1 or does just 1 change 1? I really want one. And deleting the achivments is just stupid they keep people trying for better. and it’s the only way I get BM items.
I’m pretty sure it’s just one..
Hmm… I had been playing on Howrse for quite a long time till last September, but then I took a (very long) break because I didn’t have a saltstone, nor did I want to spend real money on passes – which meant I couldn’t breed good horses.
Now I’m back on track but I’m not exactly thrilled with the changes. The achievements were really helpful; like you said, they keep you on the right way, not to mention the rewards you get for completing them.
I’m definitely not going to complete level 7 till the end of June, especially given that I’m leaving on holiday the day after tomorrow; so here’s my question: one of the rewards would be two more breeding farms – will the players who won’t manage to pass this level be able to create breeding farms? I hope so.
I’m always happy to chat and help as much as I can, so feel free to add me as a friend: my username is bitter_cherry. ;)
Good point – I think so. I doubt they will take that away from newer players.
I have heard lately that they will be adding achievements again. I only ask because i hope so, i am very disappointed. I was hoping to finish my level 8 and do my level 9 achievement. How can I do it, when they are taking it away from us? As it is, I am ranked 1020 in prestige, I have mainly horses over 1000 skills, except for one that doesn’t leave till late in July and is in a 16m box. I was hoping to have time to complete these, now it just doesn’t matter. I will keep trying till they are gone, but I hope they bring some sort of achievement back. They are fun!
Again, I am not positive, it is just something i have heard, from a few people, and yes, i do hope it is true. RE-vamp the achievements!!! ugh!
Okay, one thing i dont get straight. When the croesus goes to a new owner, does the horse it transformed turn back normal? So it’s like a ghost kinda deal? It’s so frustrating to know that I may not get one and thats pretty much the only chance I have of getting passes :(
Here’s what I thought: If you have a horse named Junior Croesus and you get lucky, that horse will be turned into a Croesus. That horse will now be added to the game, expanding the total number of Croesus. It won’t change back, it will stay a Croesus.
Latest word from Howrse (allegedly in the Events forum, though I couldn’t track down the official posting there – but definitely confirmed by the mods in the Game Play forum) is that removal of the achievements has been delayed to 7th JULY to allow folks to work on them for a little longer.
Thanks for the info!
They brought them back. So no need to be upset.
