How to Solve the Error: “Uploaded in Wrong Format”

Published by

Thanks to Kikbo for letting me borrow her lovely artwork for a demonstration!

A lot of people are having this problem, where they try to upload their picture and they are getting an error message that your upload is not formatted correct.

1. Check that you’ve saved your work as a .png and it has a transparent background (see my other tutorial)
2. You’ve over-lapped or removed some of the border somewhere along the way and here is how to fix it.

This tutorial is in Photoshop but it works exactly the same way in GIMP.

There is the spot right up top where the background was removed.

So we open up our golden apple frame.

Select the ENTIRE frame, then copy & we’re going to paste it back over our original work.

All fixed!
Now we can save this and submit it to the black pearl!

Good Luck!

Just wondering, if you don’t have Photoshop or Gimp is it still possible to do it? Thanks! Cool website by the way, very helpful!!

Unfortunately, I don’t think so. I’m not too familiar with it, so I could be wrong. I believe some people draw it on paper and color it. Once it’s done, they scan it to the computer to upload.

You can go to pixlr.com/editor if you don’t have an program installed on your computer. As long as you have Flash, you can draw directly online in the amazing online Photoshop. I use it to make all my coats, even though I have Gimp because I like Pixlr better. :)
