Want to make your own layouts for Howrse? Then your at the right spot. Here I offer training for HTML code. I’m working on updating this page; more coming soon!
Note: I’m hoping to redo these as soon as possible as it seems several players are having trouble.

can you use photos from say facebook as a photo sharing place?
Yes. If the photo is hosted on a website, then you can use it on your layout. Just make sure if it’s not yours, you have permission to use it.
where do ppl make layouts
I usually just type them up right on Howrse.
I was wondering if you could tell me how to post my banner which is in html format into the EC guestbooks. Do I need to change the format for it? Thanks so much! Thank you so much! That means a lot. :) I personally never uploaded HTML format onto a forum post, so I’m not sure how great this would work out for you. If possible, it would be best to save as a picture (.jpg) and post it in the forum using this code:
[IMG=direct link of the image]
You will most likely only be able to do this if you have created the banner. It would help you were a little more specific with what kind of banner. ;)

HOw do you add pictures? I have a picture.. do you add the URL?
You have to go into the HTML mode and enter this code in the table. Take out the star (*) when pasting it in your layout.

To get the link of a picture, right click on it and click “Copy image location”. The image must be hosted on website in order to do this.

Hi, ive made a layout a few days ago. Well anyway, when i camed on howrse a few days later, the layout was gone. I dont even anymore get to the page howrse info, and i allways made my layouts there. What is going on? How can i now make a layout?
Usually, I just type up the coding on the editing page..That is easiest for me.

I’m wondering.. do layouts work in forums as good as in the profiles?
As in posting a layout in the forums? Layouts won’t come up if they are posted in the forum. It’s the same software used to send messages, which also won’t show layouts. However, forums and messages will allow pictures to show, meaning some HTML coding will work in forums.

NOTE: Layouts are hard to make if you do not know much about HTML codes. I started howrse not knowing what a banner or a layout was, i started off with sample layouts. Then i used layout generators(Beware of copyright :) ). I joined elegent designs which is owned by Silly Banana, I now make layouts for free. My username is Royal Friesian on howrse.
Remember, you will have to research HTML.
When I was on my way to the page “adding extras” (I am making layouts on howrse, click my name and click the pming button and resereve a layout for you, I use to go that page to take thecode usually. I just change the code a bit and make more than 7 small scroll boxes), I didn´t see that link anymore. What happened?? =)

hey i just got a layout only i have absolutely no clue how to put it up! i’m probably doing it wrong but what i’ve tried is copying and pasting the code into my profile on howrse, and that didnt work so i tried to do the [img] [/img] thing and that didnt work and then i tried it with the HTML code thing and i can’t get it to come up!!

I put 2 layouts on there, one i made and one from a site i went too from google! I saved it the first time and it saved it but it was a blank screen on my profile! i went to edit it and it was there!! but it wont show up!! plz help!

Hi jessica, How do I put icons on my page. please help me!!!
Like photos, you will have to upload it to a photo sharing website if it is saved on your computer. If you found it on the internet or someone’s page (make sure you have permission from both!) just right click and select “Copy image location”. Go back to your page and go to HTML Mode. Put this code in: img src=”link here” Where it says link here, paste the image location and keep the quotations. You will also need to add carrots (<>) around the text. I would show you, but this server deletes the coding. PM me if you have any questions – I will be able to send the code then.

Yes, that works too. Sorry, I explained the more complicated way.
Instead, right click like I said before and select “Copy image location”. Then go to insert a image and paste the link and you’re done! :)

Hi. I’m having trouble uploading and pasting pictures on howrse. I use the correct format, the url then [/IMG] at the ending and it appears blank each time. My user name on howrse is -Bayside- I don’t know if this is the right place to post this, but if anyone knows how please private message me. I really want to post pictures onto my howrse profile. The same happens with the howrse layout codes. What am I doing wrong?

Is there any way i can put text boxes on the side of the image instead of under it?
I usually just use the position: absolute; code, as the coding in a table always gets messed up for me.
When you click “Insert a clip” where do you find “script prompt” and “image address”????? I really want to make my page look cool but don’t know how????

For the address, right click on the image you want to use and select “Copy Image Location”. I believe script prompt is the text that will come up if the image doesn’t..?

Sorry, I have no time to make completely custom layouts, let alone the ones I have available for the users. It will be a very long time if I will be able to do this.
well i have been trying to figure out how to make layouts for a long time now but i want to make my own layout not using one of them sites its so that i can have my own picture in it and so on…..

hm…as in just the coding and add in your pictures? Yup, I have some coding for that. Just insert the image location and you’re set! Those can be found on the Premade Layout page.
i now about everything else but how to get backrounds with the text box on top of it. if u dont know what i mean, im not sure how to explain it. Plz help! (also pm me the answer on howrse plz, username is gcpierox)

I use Photoshop for the graphic and type up the coding myself. ;)
Hello- I was wondering if you were still teaching how to make layouts? I’ve wanted to learn for a while, but I cannot seem to figure the coding out. (And no way am I going to attempt to teach myself!) How much detail can you go into making layouts? (Scroll boxes, buttons, etc)

I’m not really expecting a response, but if you can answer this for future searchers, I’m sure some questions would already be answered.
How does one post a picture in a forum? Not in the presentation, but in a forum. I tried posting the pic after having it in HTML form. I’m posting the picture directly from mybannermaker.com in its HTML format, without alterations. I tried numerous other ways of posting it, and alas, it does not want to work.

Layouts > Layout Help
Go to your page, to the presentation, and in the right corner of the box, it should have three small buttons. Click Modify then on the right of the new page, it will say HTML mode. Post the HTML coding there.
You need to use this code:
[img*]link[/img]
Just remove the asterisk

Copy the HTML code. Go to your page on Howrse and on the right top corner of the presentation box, there are three buttons. The one on closest to the left says Change. Click that to view the edit mode. Then on the right, there will be a button saying “HTML Mode”. Paste the code there.

Some of the coding is incorrect – it’s as simple as forgetting to add quotations. Look over your coding to see if there is anything extra or lacking.

How do you post a layout on a forum? I know it’s in BB coding so if you post it in HTML you can’t see it but I can’t figure out how BB code works!

To add a layout to your page, copy the HTML code and post it in the HTML mode of your page. Then go back to the normal mode to customize it with text/images.

There are tutorials here on HowrseHelper. I am updating these help pages, so they will be out soon! There is also a code/HTML widget to show what your layout will look like when you are making the layout through coding. There is no generator to create a layout for you.

You need to post the coding in the HTML mode, rather than posting it right when you click “Modify presentation”.

It’s not necessarily the actual length of when you look at it, but the amount of coding in the HTML mode. You’ll have to remove excess coding.

You can try to explain it a mod on Howrse, but you may not be able to prevent it. Yes, you can change it under profile > My account > edit my account

Alrighty, so, I made a cool little test layout for mehself, and didn’t work. At all. I learned how to use HTML in a class, and I don’t understand why it’s not working on Howrse… It works fine otherwise. Is there a special code you have to use for Howrse?
You may have been using an older format of HTML that Howrse does not recognize. Make sure the coding you have learned is similar to that posted on this website. I could check it as well if you would like me to.

No, you can’t change the coding for the forum. You can use HTML in the forums, so you may be able to make a new template, within your post.
Hello. I’m new to horse and I always see that people have profiles with crazy layouts and all these pictures and icons and those “I promote….(ex: markings on Howrse)”, and they look really cool! And I’ve tried to do that by using the insert picture icon or through the place where you change the writing mode, but nothing works! No pictures show up and I just can’t get anything to work! Jessica, I also need help on Objective 67: Win 1.20 genetic potential on a foal. I don’t understand it.
To change the length of the presentation, go to your page. It’s the third button, two away from the edit presentation button. Change the length by selecting a higher number in the drop-down menu.
For Obj. 67, use the foal games (Tips > Foal Games) posted on HowrseHelper.
Okay, so I get the first bit. I have a box with a header, a footer and two aligned boxes in the middle:

^^ It looks a little like that, but aligned and everything.
I want to make the two middle boxes scroll, but when I put in the code, nothing really happens. (It is like I only put in the size of the box)
