Raising the Prestige

Published by

Raising the prestige in your center can take some time and equus. Just be patient and it should be fine. Basically, you just need to use everything Howrse has to offer for your EC. Grow crops, make mashes, have clean, fertile meadows, and big boxes for your boarders.

Greenhouse and Carrots:

When you grow crops, it’s best to have a greenhouse so you can grow crops year-round. This way, you can have more equus for your EC and/or provide carrots for the boarding horses.

Growing Crops and Mashes:

You will need a lot of crops to create health mashes. It’s best to ‘close’ your EC to boarders, by reserving all boxes for yourself, and use that time to grow all the supplies you will need. When you grow crops, always use horse dung to make manure. It helps them grow faster and saves you money by not buying other fertilizer. Once you have a pretty big number of mashes, you can stop for a bit until you get down to a few hundred, depending on how many boarding horses you have and how often they will use mashes. Any type of mash will improve prestige, but health mashes are best. Players only have access to health mashes through ECs.As for money-making crops, it’s best to grow just wheat and flax.

Just like mashes, carrots attract players to your EC and raise the prestige. To get full prestige for boxes, there must be ten carrots and ten mashes per box. Carrots can be grown in the green house year round. Keep at least 5,000 on hand at all times. Players could BLUP their horse and would use lots of carrots.

Meadows:

Don’t buy non fertile meadows – it will lower your prestige. You need to have 100% fertility and cleanliness for your meadows. Because the non fertile meadows only go to 50%, it will lower the prestige. Always have extra pastures (any size) for your boarding horses so the fertility and cleanliness will stay up and you will always have space. Keep the extra pastures fallow. After storms, if cleanliness goes down, rotate the meadows so the extra ones are now part of the pasture and the ones that were in the pasture, are now placed fallow.

Boxes:

Wait to purchase boxes if you don’t have enough for 18 meter boxes. Since they cost 100,000e, it’s not always worth it to buy them with your EC’s equus. Instead, save up some passes if you can to get the DH boxes. If no passes are available, continue to grow crops and save up that money. If it is possible to purchase a DH box, go for it. They only wear if a horse is boarding in that stall. Always use flax bedding since it’s the best quality. Instead of buying it, you can grow it in your meadow, keep the bedding, and sell the remaining items. Every stall must have a pet. I prefer rabbits, as well most boarders do. They help give that extra burst of energy since they give an extra carrot, which can be very helpful with training. If you would like, you can have a mixture of pets, but if you ever have to change something with a box that has a different pet, it could be difficult. Even though falabellas and zebras are nice, they are very expensive and don’t have a different affect on prestige than the much cheaper hens or rabbits.

In order to have full box prestige, you must have ten mashes and carrots per box, flax bedding, a pet, and DH boxes.

Competitions:

Competitions play a big role with the overall prestige. At the moment, that’s the only thing holding me back from the top 500 ranking. To read on getting competitions to run, view this post here.

Lessons:

Boarders are always looking for high paying lessons. The lesson price is determined by the prestige and the health and dressage skills of the boarding horses. In order to get 23e lessons, the average Dressage skills must be around 270 to 280 or more. For 24e lessons, the average must be as high as 315. With the new “20 horses boarding” update, make sure you actually select your horses – don’t let people just come in and board. This way you will get the highest possible prestige you can get. It also depends on the right amount of Riding Instructors needed and by offering top pay, including raises.

Stabling:

Stabling is improved by having high skilled horses at your EC. Try having a set skill level at around 900, if it’s open to the public. Otherwise, board only one horse your EC that you own with the highest skills – overall and in Dressage. I’m currently boarding my horse with 940 overall skills of which 250 of them are Dressage.

Popularity:

Although having a forum won’t improve prestige, it will help spread your popularity. Open the forum to all breeders and try putting topics in there that others don’t have. Go onto the Game Play forums and see if anyone is asking about what you have posted. Suggest to them to check out the forum and they will see your EC on the way there.

Good luck!

    Thank you so much.

Also If you want good horses boarded I recommend investing in an EC booster horse (I recommend Irish Hunters) ether already trained or a foal for you to train. Also the best Dressage skill is 275 it should put you at 0.99 lesson gain with the horse by its self.

Thanks for the tip! I’ll make sure I’ll add it.

Freisians are IH are because there high dressage but be careful when having a foal in the EC make sure it will be trained by the update otherwise your lessons will go down.

this is soo hard! i’ll never get there :(

  5. Annaon 08 Apr 2010 at 8:36 pm

This is amazing! It took me a month to get from 0 prestige and really low in the rankings to 50% prestige and in the 4000s. I <3 your site so much! Although someone snagged the box I purchased today before I could reserve it for me, and the center is still under construction so I raised the skill level super high (2000%) and made the board 25e so that when that stall DOES open up I'll get it, cause it's my only 16X16 stall…..

  6. Annaon 08 Apr 2010 at 8:36 pm

    Sorry correction. 58% prestige.

  7. Jessicaon 08 Apr 2010 at 8:38 pm

Glad you like the site. ;)

I always get annoyed when I forget to reserve the stall for myself. It’s best to make the required skill to 1,000% before purchasing any new stalls. After you purchase the stall and reserve it, set the minimum skill level back to where it was before.

i wish i would’ve known all this before i opened my center!!! i never would be in the mess i am in with eqqus!!! anything that can be done to assist me (Truitt328) now that i am established, and have 29 boarders, and spent passes on my ec, would be helpful!!!

  9. Serena/Truitt328on 01 Jun 2010 at 3:12 pm

i am currently upgrading my 25 boxes, as i can, i figure i will never reach 9 before the end of June. so depressing, as I have been working feverishly on my comps and raising my stats.

  10. Brandy/brandygon 06 Jun 2010 at 6:34 pm

Do I need a certain amount of stalls? I have been stuck on this achievement for months!! I only have 6 stalls, 1/2 of them DH, I board my own Irish Hunters, all have dressage over 210, plenty of carrots and health mashes, flax bedding, rabbits in all stalls. I didn’t play much for a few weeks, but I am trying to get my races going every day again now, I use my 2 Harlequins for that(I don’t have any divine horses). Help!!

  11. Jessicaon 06 Jun 2010 at 6:49 pm

I have seven stalls but I am oonly using two at the moment. I would delete the stalls that aren’t 18 meters – this brings up your box prestige. Maybe sure meadows are 100% and health care is at 100% – those shouldn’t be too hard. Try to get stabling at least at 58% and comps at 65%. If everything else is at 100% and lessons are at 94%, you will have a ranking in the 500s to 600s. This doesn’t complete the achievement though – You need to get into the 400s.

  12. Brandy/brandygon 06 Jun 2010 at 7:00 pm

Thanks for the tips. What increases stabling? The bigger boxes? My stabling is currently 52% and my comps are only 56%. Hopefully I can get them to run everyday and up those, I guess that is really the only way to increase comps right? I already run my Harleys, I have nothing better overall(my IHs are better in dressage, but not everything else). Thanks again for the tips, this is a fabulous site!

  13. Jessicaon 06 Jun 2010 at 9:19 pm

I suppose the boxes have something to do with it..I can’t remember exactly what it was but I know that Dressage counts for it.

For the comps, train some different breeds or buy some high skilled horses that will help you in your comps. Even if they run everyday, they won’t get up to 60% prestige. You need high skilled horses to run in them and increase the difficulty. Glad I could help. ;)

    also to earn money:
spend ALL of your money on droppings (this may take a while as you can only make one purchase every 30 seconds)
then, go to your meadows page and turn all the droppings into manure (25 droppings per acre)
then sell all the manure and you will have loads more cash!

  15. Jessicaon 30 Jun 2010 at 11:27 am

I have that posted on the other EC tip page, but thanks! :)

  16. Silverbrumbyon 19 Sep 2010 at 1:36 am

Howrse did get rid of health care and the vets. There is a post about it on the main page. I’ll take that out.

  18. horsee9on 14 Oct 2010 at 3:41 pm

you know how in howrse summer, a lot of good EC’s have a ton of hay or whatever it is in their meadows so you can feed your howrses without spending a ton of equus ? what crop needs to be grown to do that?

  19. horsee9on 14 Oct 2010 at 3:44 pm

and how do you clean the boxes? some of mine only have a 60% cleanliness, but i cant figure out why.

  20. Jessicaon 16 Oct 2010 at 8:55 am

Hay and straw are grown to use for bedding/mashes. What gives your horse more food in the summer is having plenty of room for the boarding horses in the EC.

  21. Jessicaon 30 Oct 2010 at 12:48 pm

    Cleanliness should gradually rise. ;)

  22. Jessicaon 21 Nov 2010 at 9:36 am

It will go up automatically as long as you have enough grooms for your center. ;)

  23. Bankalanaon 28 Nov 2010 at 9:37 am

Does it really not matter whether you have a rabbit or zebra? I just wasted a pass -.-

  24. horse luvr1on 05 Dec 2010 at 3:24 pm

okay so i really need to raise my prestige.
Does anyone have like a plan thing that will raise the prestige?

  25. Jessicaon 19 Dec 2010 at 12:58 pm

It will help bring more people to your EC. Now that competition scores will make your horse lose morale depending on the placements, zebras could be helpful. ;)

  26. Aslanon 17 Feb 2011 at 9:56 pm

this is so helpful, I’ll die before I finish it all!! Thanks!! (not meant sarcastically, btw)

  27. 2funnee4uon 24 Mar 2011 at 12:57 pm

how do get horses that are boarded in your ec out of your ec?

  28. MagicWeaveron 26 May 2011 at 10:57 am

    @2funnee4u:

There are a couple surreptitious ways to remove a horse from your EC.

#1. If it is your horse, you can sell it to someone you really trust (I mean really trust) and ask them to cancel the board, and then sell it back to you (I think that takes 10 days – or at least it used to).

If the horse is not yours:
#2. You can destroy the box, this puts the horse on the outside and effectively ends the board. May not be the most cost effective answer.
    -or-
#3. You can wait for the board to expire. Do not extend it if they request it. This is the safest, albeit slowest method.

Hope that is helpful. Just happened across your question and I had that same one some time back when I got started.

  29. MagicWeaveron 29 May 2011 at 2:47 pm

Jessica, just FYI for updating the information/comments – as you probably already know, the boxes now automatically reserve to you when you buy a new one. So now the issue will be people remembering to delete the reservation if they want others to board. Just saw you made a comment some time back about raising the level of skills before buying, and now that isn’t an issue (thank goodness cause it was always a fit with me too)

  30. firestar15on 07 Jun 2011 at 1:00 pm

Don’t put too much of your own horses because if you do, you don’t get as much profit. (boarding you own horse in your EC is free)

  31. ponygirl756on 26 Dec 2011 at 9:31 pm

How do I offer tack to my boarders?

  32. Jessicaon 26 Dec 2011 at 10:39 pm

If you have a Riding Instructor, Farrier, and …blanking on the third one (not a groom) it will be supplied automatically.

  33. Betsyon 10 Jan 2012 at 12:21 pm

Youre website is such a help, especially on the objectives. But I have one question on equestrian centers: how does manure help your ec?

  34. Betsyon 10 Jan 2012 at 12:22 pm

And on the tack question the farrier does horseshoes and saddler does the rest of the tack.

  35. Jessicaon 10 Jan 2012 at 5:09 pm

By using it when growing crops, you will harvest a higher number than if you didn’t use manure.

  36. Kathryn236on 16 Jan 2012 at 1:10 am

    Hey Jessica.
What does it take to get in the top, say, 5,000 ECs? I am at 53%
(ranking: 8342th) and I have nearly 80k, carrots, 25 12m boxes, all euip., and collecting my fixings for mashes. Could you give me any more advice, considering howrse has stopped the pets and health care, to help up the prestige?

  37. Jessicaon 16 Jan 2012 at 9:58 am

I’ll have to update this page – sorry about the different information! First off, you’ll have to work to upgrading your boxes to all 18m boxes – you’ll need that to get into a higher ranking. Also, working on building your comps. They will have to have about 40% prestige to get up in the ranking.

  38. Kathryn236on 16 Jan 2012 at 8:45 pm

    No problem x]
Well, right now Races & Barrel Racing are at 30%. The Cross Country is at 23%, Jumping at 19%, and Dressage is 25%.
How excatly should I raise the prestige of the comps?

  39. mfz2010on 07 Feb 2012 at 9:15 pm

this helps so mush! your site is the best help I have gotten any where! thank you for being awsome and having a awsome site!

  40. Betsyon 07 Mar 2012 at 2:14 pm

Thanx! IPad in repair or I would have said so sooner.
