Workshops and Profit
The amount of workshops in production at your EC depends on your prestige. The limit is four. All the necessities can be made, including mash, tax, boxes, other workshops, and water troughs to name a few. Before using the item you created for your EC, it’s possible to sell it back – including other workshops!
Sizing: There is no “discount” in supplies needed to make items in large workshops compared to small workshops. Large workshops allow you to create more of the item in the same amount of time.
Wear: Workshops will wear everyday, even when they’re not in use – might as well have a constant production if possible!
Profit: When selling items for profit, keep in mind the cost of production. Compare this cost to the price it’ll sell for at the store – this is always half of what the buying price is. Example: Water troughs sell from the store for around 30,000e so if you create some in your workshop, you’ll only receive 15,000e when selling it back. If you have the iron in your inventory, this is a pretty good trade. However if you had to buy iron to make the trough, it’s best to keep it for your consumption; you probably had to pay around 15,000e just for the supplies.
Thanks to Howrse user jennyael, here is an excel sheet with the most profitable items! The top few include Apples and Carrots, followed by other crops. Other specialty items aren’t as profitable

Does anyone know whether I can sell a workshop I made after I decided to keep it.
It hasn’t been used but I didn’t realise I couldn’t have two going at the same time with my current prestige.
Is there any way to sell it?
@Catherine – I don’t think you can once you agree to keep it. Just hang onto it and let it wear. Don’t repair it until your prestige increases.
Do you, or anyone know a way to make the most profit from the workshops, while you’re growing crops to sell. Would you recommend creating * and ** boxes, workshops, and greenhouses and then selling them back? This would be another great thing to add to your site, if you could find the answers to it!
Hello…
I had started to time consuming process of determining what item yields the most money in return using large workshops and large greenhouses.
Once I have more done, I will post it either here or on my page, which is Flyhigh, but it takes a while. I have to look up the cost of production and then see what I can see it for. Right? But then I need to also look at how long production takes. Some items take 8-9 days and some take hours. You have to add that into the equation.
Jessica is absolutely correct on crafting water troughs and I’m sure most of us have lost money on that one!
Jessica, thanks for the great Howrse help site!
@Michelle: Feel free to contact me on Howrse and I can add this to the site! PM me at Jessica27
