From Birth to 6 Months

Published by

Having 100% energy at 8 months is an important key to starting off foal games right. You don’t necessarily have to follow this pattern, but I suggest it. When boarding a foal, board it in the best EC you could find. You may also ask other ECs if they will lower the skill level if you train your horse by the next update.

.

..

.

Birth to 4 months:
groom // stroke // carrot (if available) // drink // suckle
The foal should end the first day with 22-27 energy, following days with 100% energy and morale will increase daily.

.

..

.

6 months:
Board the foal, look for the best EC you can find for his skills and ensure the EC has carrots. Pastures and boxes should be immaculate.
groom // 1.5 hrs pasture // 1.5 hrs pasture //  drink (top up food as necessary)

Continue on to: Winter Games, // Normal Games (in Kilograms),// Normal Games (in pounds)

Ok I got just one question. How EXACTLY do you know what the skill set of your foal is? Without knowing what you have it’s impossible to know what you need to train. It’s probably just something I’m overlooking but I can’t seem to figure out how to go about getting the best stats from a foal so they’ll do well in the competitions, best I’ve managed is 4th place. I’m totally lost her, please help?

Um…sorry, but could you re-word your question? Do you mean how to tell the top three skills..?

  3. TubbyHorsieon 17 Jul 2010 at 9:13 pm

Do you HAVE to give your foal a saltstone? Because I don’t have one. =)

  4. Jessicaon 18 Jul 2010 at 8:37 am

It really helps to bump up morale and energy, which are necessary for training. Put any horse in a stall for some time and you’ll find one. It helps if you keep putting the horse in for 30 minutes multiple times instead just going in for hours straight.

    Thanks! This is really helping!

So,my only problem is how to get a Mustang foal when you first start. It isn’t in the breed list at all.

  8. Falaon 13 Nov 2010 at 5:44 pm

Curiosity killed the cat but who ares? lol Do you have to do it in the order you say it here like, groom, pasture, pasture, saltstone, drink, food?

  9. Falaon 15 Nov 2010 at 5:17 pm

Mustangs are one of the ‘special’ breeds, I don’t remember how you get them though.

  10. Jessicaon 20 Nov 2010 at 9:30 am

Yes, it must all be in the same order for it to work.

  11. Jessicaon 20 Nov 2010 at 9:36 am

I believe they were introduced with one of Howrse’s promotions..the unicorns could be found from getting a board game.

  12. SnowstormSwedishon 23 Dec 2010 at 6:41 pm

mustangs used to be one of the top horses to breed, but people stoped starting with them, therfore howrse took them off the list. they are not spiecal, just not as wanted. if you can access the privet sales, i can sell you a ga mustang! they used to be my fav untill howrse changed whta they look lik! lol

The foals will start off with a 38% energy / 100% health / 73% morale at the end of the birth day if you follow this route instead:

    stroke
    groom
    carrot
    turnip
    water
    feed
    salt stone

Stroke works better when the horse has little energy. As the foal starts off with practically no energy when they’re born the stroke will grant the most energy at the beginning instead of waiting till the end.

Salt stones give more energy/morale the more energy the horse has. It makes more sense to wait till the last action for the salt stone.

I am looking for the new updates too for getting my twins to 1.2GP without the salt stone. what was the salt stone energy and moral at that time? What is in place of it now? I have to pass my objective that I am stuck on for months b/c i can’t get my twins to 1.2 GP. Help.

OH I just love your website. Thank you soooo much.

Before I believe the salt stone gave 2/3% energy. There are games posted without the salt stone.

Okay, so I can’t find an EC for my foal at all and, obviously, I can’t progress in the game if I can’t get him into one… I’ve left all the criteria set to “any” and tried all the different boarding length options but still no luck. Any ideas/tips as to why I can’t seem to get one? Thanks :)

  21. Jessicaon 02 May 2011 at 7:45 pm

I’m not sure why that won’t work…Unless if all the ECs raised their skill level to above 100 or so. Try asking in the EC classifieds for any open ECs for your horse. Maybe ask in the Game Play forum as to why you are unable to find an open EC.

At six months are you still supposed to stroke them and give them a carrot or no? Because it does not list those, just groom, pasture, drink and feed. I’m going to do it though, because it can’t hurt! (i don’t think)

  23. horzelover1998on 01 Aug 2011 at 2:55 am

Just wondering what is a salt stone?

  24. Jessicaon 01 Aug 2011 at 8:58 am

It’s no longer available, but it’s literally just a giant piece of salt that the horses can lick, kinda like an extra treat for them.

  25. nata5on 01 Aug 2011 at 11:27 am

what is a salt stone and how do you get one?

  26. nata5on 01 Aug 2011 at 11:27 am

  27. Three's Peppyon 28 Aug 2011 at 4:47 pm

  28. ColdWindBlowson 07 Sep 2011 at 8:00 pm

Jessica, I was curious. Could you update this to where there is no salt stone? Because there isn’t even a gray option for salt stones even on the international version.

  29. Hazel..heheon 14 Sep 2011 at 7:48 am

    HI, what is a saltstone

  30. Jessicaon 19 Sep 2011 at 8:00 pm

Hazle..hehe, it was a treat that you could give to your horse. Owlient removed it from the game some time ago. I still need to update some foal games. :s

  31. Zencaraon 22 Sep 2011 at 2:42 am

Is there anyway that you could make a link at the bottom of the post that goes to the next months of training so you don’t have to keep going back and forth if you have multiple horses of different ages?

  32. Jessicaon 08 Oct 2011 at 2:31 pm

Very good idea Zencara! I will update that. Thank you!

  33. sheshmacabeon 06 Jan 2012 at 9:15 pm

Does this work on international howrse? I cant seem to be able to get its skills to rise!!!

  34. Moss043(User on Howrse)on 17 Jan 2012 at 6:54 pm

I do, carrot, brush, stroke, drink, nurse and my newborn comes out with 37energy.

  35. Jessicaon 17 Jan 2012 at 7:14 pm

Yes, that’s fine. The next day the energy should be raised to 100%

  36. CurlyGirlon 17 Jan 2012 at 7:54 pm

I have to ask, when you choose the sire for your foal, what does it mean when it has those things at the bottom that says “offer my mare”? i know this sounds like a stupid question…

  37. Horseluvin'girlon 19 Jan 2012 at 4:41 pm
